With the help of our supporters, NFG can address some of the major challenges facing Sierra Leone.
The Nyawa region faces real challenges: the Ebola crisis, the spread of AIDS and malaria, poor education, and a lack of resources mean that life can be really difficult for the most vulnerable here. Our approach to these challenges is a little bit different. More optimistic. Because while most of the world sees Sierra Leone as a country torn apart by a brutal civil war, we see it as home. Sierra Leone is still a country where people can still live, smile, play and love.
We’ve started in the Nyawa region of Sierra Leone with a view to expand to other regions in West Africa, with a focus on:
- Building and rebuilding new schools to help foster better education for children.
- Building new clinics and rebuilding old ones, promoting health awareness and collaborating with organizations on the ground so preventable medical issues are addressed locally.
At NFG, we believe in working respectfully and carefully, taking on smaller, more tangible projects with foreseeable completion dates. This allows each milestone, each goal, to be measured accurately. With a focus on incremental progress and the future, NFG is looking forward to a future with more healthy kids, stronger families, and growing schools. Moving forward, everything we do will help ensure that the joy which is inherent in all of us as humans is shared with the people of Sierra Leone.
